Praxis
grew from humble beginnings as an off-site training
division of Malaspina University College in Nanaimo,
British Columbia, Canada.
Praxis always had an international aim, however. In
the early days, most of our clients were pulp mills
in Texas and Wisconsin. In the early 1980's Praxis
separated from the college, and began business as
the International Technical Training Association,
a small group of ex-college employees headed by Greg
Millbank, who was previously a college professor and
administrator.
When the need for expansion capital became acute,
the International Technical Training Association members
realized that a more businesslike structure was necessary.
Greg Millbank was eventually able to supply the required
capital, and consequently formed the Association into
a BC Registered Company, first called Intectra Systems
Inc., but soon changed to Praxis Technical Group,
Inc. The word "Praxis" was chosen because
of the company's belief and determination that learning
was not primarily a matter of theoretical schooling,
but a practical matter involving experience and practice.
Praxis is still a tightly held private company, and
we still work for all of the customers with whom we
have connected over the past 17 years.
Thus it can be said that our customers also comprise
a reasonably small tightly-held group. We are very
fond of all of them. Want to join the group?

Declares War on Boredom!
|

We
want to teach people what they don't
know, not what they already know.
We also know that everyone's knowledge
is different. So why is it that
most companies attempt to teach
everyone in exactly the same way?

| Praxis
believes that a good teacher should
start by asking the learner questions,
until they build a map of what the
learner already knows. |
