IT Support and Software Development


Praxis is looking for motivated IT Support and Software Development people to come join our vibrant and dynamic organization based here in Nanaimo. Work involves system administration and support of various server environments, supporting clients, web-based and standalone software development, and supporting our eLearning development group. We are a growing company with a long history, and we are looking for likeminded individuals who are interested in learning new skills and working in a flexible and fun environment.

 

Must have experience with some of the following:

• Microsoft Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange, Windows 7, Ubuntu Server

• JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, HTML

• PHP, Java, AS2, AS3 (CS5 and FlashBuilder), .NET

 

Good time management skills and an ability to work in a largely unsupervised environment are critical. We also look for people who are creative and imaginative, and have a desire to learn new skills and take on new things. Other attributes such as having a good facility with the English language, including reading, writing and editing, and being able to grasp complex concepts and processes are assets. Systems Administrator


Praxis is looking for motivated IT Support and Software Development people to come join our vibrant and dynamic organization based here in Nanaimo. As Systems Administrator you will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems and related infrastructure. An interest in self-improvement, R&D, and a passion for learning are much desired attributes in order to drive innovation and seek solutions for our clients. This position provides opportunities to work as part of a team, and the freedom to self-identify new projects where needed. Activities will include such things as needs assessment, project and technical planning, researching and implementing solutions, documentation, deployment and testing.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7/8/8.1, MS Office, Exchange 2007, Active Directory Services and Group Policy Management.
  • Experience with virtualized environments such as VMWare and/or Hyper V.
  • Familiarity with Backup Management and Data Recovery processes.
  • Knowledge of Site-to-Site VPN, Remote Access and Firewalls.
  • 2-year Computer Technology diploma and/or a minimum of 2-years relevant work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's licence, and be legally qualified to drive in the Province of B.C.
